I worked as a WordPress developer for Home Service Guide Pro, a local business directory platform — similar to a modern Yellow Pages — designed to connect consumers in the United States with home service professionals in their area. The platform covers a wide range of service categories, including plumbers, electricians, flooring companies, veterinarians, auto repair shops, dentists, and more.
One of my key contributions was the development of a custom WordPress plugin that integrated the Google Maps API with the platform's business listing system. This plugin allowed users to search for service providers by entering their zip code and then visualize the results directly on an interactive map, displaying each business's location, contact information, and available services in real time. The integration consumed the platform's business data API to dynamically populate map markers, ensuring that listings were always up to date and accurately geolocated.
Beyond the mapping functionality, I worked on custom post types and templates to support the directory's structure, optimizing the search and filtering experience so that consumers could quickly find and connect with local professionals. My work helped deliver a seamless and intuitive user experience across both desktop and mobile devices, supporting the platform's goal of making local service discovery fast, reliable, and free for consumers.
