I worked as a WordPress developer for Holafly, a leading international eSIM provider trusted by over 10 million travelers worldwide. Holafly's platform allows users to purchase and activate prepaid digital SIM cards for more than 160 destinations across the globe, offering unlimited data plans, hotspot support, and seamless connectivity without the need for a physical SIM card or roaming charges.
My primary focus during this engagement was WordPress performance optimization for their high-traffic e-commerce platform. I conducted thorough audits of the site's loading speed and identified critical bottlenecks affecting Core Web Vitals metrics, implementing a series of optimizations that significantly improved page load times. This included configuring and fine-tuning WP Rocket for advanced caching, lazy loading, and file minification, as well as optimizing image delivery through WebP conversion and responsive image sizing to reduce bandwidth consumption across devices.
On the database side, I performed query optimization and cleanup routines to reduce server load, improving response times for dynamic pages handling large volumes of product listings and destination-based content. I also worked on reducing render-blocking resources by deferring non-critical JavaScript and CSS, resulting in measurable improvements to Lighthouse scores across desktop and mobile.
Additionally, I collaborated with the development team to implement structured data and SEO-friendly markup across destination landing pages — a critical component for a platform operating in over 15 languages — ensuring that performance gains translated directly into better organic visibility and conversion rates for Holafly's global user base.
